Dear Friends,
We regret to inform you that Last Stand must cancel its December 3rd Giving Tuesday cocktail mixer at The Gardens Hotel due to an unexpected scheduling conflict.
The Marathon City Council will hold a special workshop on the same evening to discuss additional ROGO/BPAS allocations from Monroe County. These discussions are critical to the future of the Keys, focusing on urgent issues like hurricane evacuation safety and overdevelopment. Last Stand and the Florida Keys ROGO Coalition have been dedicated to addressing these challenges for many months.
We strongly encourage our supporters—and anyone who loves the Keys—to attend this workshop and help us fill the room. Our elected officials must see the community’s commitment to public safety, environmental protection, and preserving our quality of life.

FKNMs Water Quality Protection Program (WQPP) Steering Co. Meetingin
The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary's Water Quality Protection Program (WQPP) Steering Committee will meet on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Marathon, Florida.
Plogging the Keys
Spend an hour helping to make our Paradise clean. Meet the city van in the parking lot of the Key West Fire Station 2 at 616 Simonton Street to pick up a vest, gloves, a picker and a bucket and we will attack the surrounding areas getting it ready for Veterans day. Afterwards, our host, Last Stand, will have breakfast treats and information about their organization.

Critical Crossroads: The future of development in the Keys🚨 Last Chance to have your say: ROGO & evacuation survey!
The Florida Keys are at a pivotal crossroads as Monroe County deliberates on accepting new state-issued Rate of Growth Ordinances (ROGOs). Decisions made in the coming months could forever alter the Florida Keys, presenting our most significant challenge. Join us for a presentation and survey by Kimberly Matthews, Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Libraries, on the proposed new ROGO allocations.
This will be one of the final group presentations, which differ from the online surveys on the BOCC’s website . This event offers Last Stand members a unique chance to actively participate and help shape the debate determining our community's future. As Last Stand is the only environmental and quality-of-life group taking this Survey, your informed and passionate participation is crucial.

Last Stand and 15 other organizations, representing thousands of Keys residents, will speak about concerns regarding the County’s analysis of potential “takings” liability and the proposed request for new ROGOs.
