After spending two decades fishing and diving in the Florida Keys, Edie and her husband Joe retired full-time to Ramrod Key in 2018. With over 30 years of experience in senior leadership positions within the public and private healthcare insurance sectors, Edie brings a wealth of knowledge to her community. A trained nurse, she also holds an MBA from St. Joseph’s Haub School of Business.
Upon her arrival in the Keys, Edie quickly became involved with the American Red Cross and the Florida Medical Reserve Corps, eager to give back to her new community. Her network expanded rapidly as she administered COVID-19 vaccinations for the Public Health Department during the pandemic.
To better understand the challenges facing the Keys, Edie began attending County Commissioner meetings. She became increasingly alarmed by the rapid pace of commercial and residential growth occurring despite the area being designated as a State Critical Concern. This growth has resulted in water quality degradation, traffic congestion, and strains on local infrastructure. Edie is particularly concerned that working families may struggle to remain in the Keys due to the surge in short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods.
Edie is excited to leverage her organizational skills and “can-do” attitude as part of the leadership team at Last Stand, where she aims to help defend and protect the cherished Keys we all love.
