Job Title: Executive Director

Last Stand is searching for a Non-Profit Executive Director to join our team and drive our organization forward by overseeing all operational, financial, and technical aspects of the organization.  The Executive Director's responsibilities include developing strategies under the guidance of the Board of Directors to meet Last Stand’s short- and long-term mission goals, executing initiatives to meet membership and fundraising goals, developing collaborative partnerships with other non-profits and business entities, and overseeing financial and budget considerations for the Board of Directors.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:

    • Develop and implement strategies that align with the organization's mission and to achieve membership and fundraising goals.

    • Work closely with the Board of Directors to define and communicate the organization's vision and direction.

    • Recruit, hire, and manage a strong team and staff.

    • Cultivate and manage a volunteer base to assist with events and projects. 

    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

  2. Fundraising

    • Develop major donor program and cultivate major donors.

    • Prepare accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.

    • Oversee and participate in fundraising efforts and fundraising events.

    • Grant development (investigate and research opportunities; delegate and oversee grant writing).

  3. Community and Public Relations 

    • Represent the organization in the community and advocate for its mission and programs.

    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, community leaders, and other non-profit organizations.

    • Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies to enhance the organization's public image and outreach.

  4. Strategic Planning:

    • With Board collaboration, lead the organization in the development of long-term strategic plans to ensure growth and sustainability.

    • Set and monitor goals and objectives to achieve strategic priorities via Staff and Board members.

  5. Board Administration and Support:

    • Develop and manage the organization's budget to ensure financial stability and sustainability.

    • Prepare for and participate in Board meetings.

    • Provide timely and accurate reports and information to the Board.

    • Assist the Board in developing and implementing best practices of governance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Executive Director or in a senior management role within a non-profit organization.

  • Experience running successful fundraising initiatives.

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • Knowledge of Keys’ issues and political climate.

  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and maintaining volunteer commitment.

  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.

  • Financial management and budgeting experience.

  • Grant writing skills.

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for non-profits.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

  • Significant experience with marketing software and tracking tools, along with office software (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
