Upcoming Meetings Regarding New Building Allocations (ROGOs)

  • October 16: Regular BOCC meeting starting at 9 am, with ROGO discussion expected at 10 am. This meeting can be viewed live or on-demand. Agenda highlights include:

    • Presentation of ROGO surveys conducted by Keys organizations.

    • Emergency management presentation on hurricane evacuation strategies, potentially impacting growth management policies.

    • Presentation by Jon Rizzo from the National Weather Service on recent advancements in hurricane forecasting.

    • Rollout of the revised number of "buildable" lots Keys-wide, currently reduced from approximately 3,000 to 2,000, with questions and concerns about the re-computation to be addressed with County staff.

    • County staff responses to identified flaws in the 2023 FlCommerce evacuation model.

  • November 4: Town hall hosted by County staff in Key West at 5:30 pm (location TBD).

  • November 6: Town hall in Key Largo at 5:30 pm (location TBD).

  • November 7: Town hall in Marathon at 5:30 pm (location TBD).

  • November 20: Special BOCC meeting at 10 am in Marathon to report on town hall meetings and County's online ROGO surveys.

  • December 11: Regular BOCC meeting in Key Largo, featuring an independent analysis presentation on infrastructure costs related to additional ROGOs.

  • December 19: Special BOCC meeting at 10 am in Marathon for the final ROGO vote.
