Re:      Agenda Item N8 – Completion of Everglades Restoration Projects

Dear Mayor and Monroe County Commissioners:

Last Stand Board asks for the BOCC to approve the resolution expressing support for State and Federal funding and the completion of Everglades restoration projects. We also ask for a letter urging the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to ensure sufficient water flow and supply to Florida Bay in their updated Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual.

As a member of the Everglades Coalition for over the last two decades, Last Stand believes that the County and its residents must continue to push for the completion of these projects for the survival of Florida Bay and Everglades National Park. Only by restoring natural freshwater flows can we see a healthy and thriving Florida Bay.

Thank you for your kind consideration in this matter.

For the Last Stand Board,

D.A. Aldridge, President

DA/ml
