Use Coral Reef Friendly Sunscreen

Last Stand is supporting Reef Relief efforts to educate visitors and residents of the dangers to coral reefs from sunscreen that rely on Oxybenzone and other listed chemicals.

Policy Statement Adopted 10-18-18    Last Stand supports efforts to educate Key West residents and visitors about the harmful effects on coral of certain sunscreen ingredients, including Oxybenzone. We urge everyone to avoid sunscreen with ingredients that are harmful to corals at beaches or on the ocean.

Please watch Key West City Commission for upcoming action to adopt measures similar to the State of Hawaii to prohibit the use of sunscreen with chemicals that damage coral.
