Captain Dan Presents: Global Warming - The Changing Oceans
A Last Stand Neighborhood Information Forum

Captain Dan Kipnis, a Florida Native, grew up fishing the bountiful waters of Biscayne Bay and the Gulfstream since the late 50's. He is an ardent fisheries conservationist who has been deeply involved in environmental issues. The National Wildlife Federation has tapped him to talk about Global Warming and its effect on the oceans and near coastal environments. Captain Kipnis currently serves as Chairman of the Miami Beach Marine Authority and is a member of the Miami Dade County Climate Change Task Force, where he applies his environmental expertise as Chairman of the Economic, Social and Health Committee.

Many issues lately have distracted us all from the reality of Climate Change. To renew our focus on this most serious of predicaments, on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4 Last Stand will host the provocative session:

These forums are free of charge to the public. Thursday's forum is at NOAA's Nancy Foster Eco-Discovery Center on the Truman Waterfront. Doors will open at 5:30 pm (feel free to look over the Center's interesting and educational tableaus before seating). Captain Dan will begin his presentation promptly at 6:00 pm, and afterward (at about 7:00 pm) attendees are encouraged to ask questions about anything on the topic. The Eco-Discovery Center is located just inside the Southard Street and Petronia Street entrances to the Truman Waterfront. There is plenty of parking available.

Friday's forum is at the Sugarloaf Fire Department Hall on the Overseas Highway at about milemarker 17 on Sugarloaf Key. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Captain Dan will begin his presentation promptly at 7:00 pm, and afterward (at about 8:00 pm) attendees are encouraged to ask questions about anything on the topic.

Traditionally Last Stand’s forums are well attended, and generate lively discussion. This topic is sure to draw a full house. Note that the venue’s seating is somewhat limited, so attendees must get there early to ensure a seat. When doors open, tickets will be issued at the door until all seats are taken.
